steve can play the piano. although they couldn’t bring it with them on their move from ireland to america, his mother used to own a grand piano, and she taught him how to read sheet music at an early age. he found he could play the piano at dance halls when he was older and scraped up extra money playing for others when he wasn’t sick or attending school. seventy years later, he still knows how to, and he finds piano music very soothing for his anxiety, whether he’s listening or playing.

although steve knows many martial arts, his primary technique is krav maga, a military self-defense system developed for the israel defense and security forces, which focuses mainly on extreme efficiency and brutal counter-attacks.
steve learned many home remedies fending for his sickly self during the 30′s after his mother died. some were trial and error, but others his mother had taught him.
